Artist's Statement

Firstly, I want to say that I am truly appreciative to those who take the time to view my work. Growing up, I always loved to paint and draw but struggled with direction and instruction in art classes. I pursued a career as an oncology nurse and spent time traveling the country for over a decade and have only recently had the opportunity to get back in touch with what I loved so much as a child.

I paint because I truly enjoy it. I love the way that painting has caused me to examine my surroundings and envrionment. This is a learning process for me and I hope to continue to improve and develop my style with each new piece.

I enjoy painting on wood, espcially reclaimed wood that would otherwise be headed for the dumpster. This can cause some of my pieces to have more knots, lumps and scars within the painting, some would see these as flaws but I think it gives my pieces character.
